PhD Economics - University of Oxford
Hello! I'm currently a DPhil student at Oxford University in Population Health (Health Economics). Before starting my doctorate, I completed an MSc in Economics for Development at Oxford, and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Statistics in South Africa. My focus in economics is on inequality and distributional statistics in the health sector, and I work on a multi-national study which aims to identify inequality. I have 5 years of university experience in micro and macro economics, and I have taken several econometric courses alongside pure statistics. My electives have focused on economics within the context of development, the environment, politics, and risk.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked in management consulting for two years, working on projects in several industries and countries. I have experience tutoring statistics and economics at the university level in individual and medium-group (15-20 student) settings, and have tutored physics, chemistry, economics, math, and English in one-on-one sessions at high school level. I believe in assisting students understand problems, enabling them to tackle issues with understanding rather than memory - built on solid foundations of core course content. I have seen this approach lead to confidence and relaxation in students, and ultimately improve results.
