Tom - Oxford

BA in Classics - University of Oxford | MPhil in Classics - University of Cambridge

Tom

I’ve been lucky enough to study Classics at both Oxford (BA) and Cambridge (MPhil). This means I’ve had the experience of the admissions systems at both universities, as well as the important differences in the course structure.

During my time at Oxford, I experienced over 100 tutorials, giving me a detailed sense of what tutors want from their students along. I got the hang of both systems along the way, gaining the top mark in the university in my final exams at Oxford and a Distinction in my MPhil at Cambridge.

Since then, I’ve been working as a private tutor, teaching A-Level Greek and helping applicants with undergraduate and postgraduate admissions at all stages of the process. I like to work co-operatively with students: Oxbridge preparation works best as a lively and challenging conversation between equals.

Teaching students with SEN has been particularly rewarding. I’m comfortable adapting my teaching style to create an enjoyable learning environment for every student.

In my spare time, I’m a boxing fan, Welsh learner and cold-water swimmer.
