MMath in Mathematics - University of Oxford
I graduated with a first in Masters of Mathematics from the University of Oxford. Over the last few years, I have worked closely with students on their personal statements, conducted mock interviews and trained them for the Oxbridge entrance exams – both online and in person. I have additionally volunteered as a teaching assistant as well as given talks on the university admissions process to sixth-formers.
I aim to familiarise my students with common techniques used in testing mathematics and get them up to speed on the core syllabus right away. Lots of well-guided preparation is then essential for top marks. I emphasise working through many practice problems with levels of difficulty across the spectrum: ranging from those targeted at building confidence to those requiring more creative problem-solving. As a tutor, I always aim for a personable relationship with students which promotes a friendly environment for asking each other questions, discussing solutions and challenging their intuition.
The reality is that admissions for Mathematics and related courses is competitive. I focus on pushing my students to excel by putting the time into preparing worthwhile tutorials and resources.
