Thomas - Cambridge

MSc - Natural Sciences

I am a fourth year Natural Sciences (Physical) undergraduate at St. Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge. I went to a state grammar school where I achieved all 9s at GCSE and 4 A* at A Level. I also won numerous awards: two gold awards in the UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO) including a top 30 ranking nationally in 2020, a Roentgenium award in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge for the Lower 6th (C3L6), as well as victories in The Top of the Bench chemistry competition and the Salters Chemistry challenge. I have completed internships at the Cambridge Materials Science and Metallurgy Department working on microfluidics as well as in the finance sector at Nomura, Jane Street and IMC Trading. I am currently researching nanopod morphology and growth mechanisms with Professor Wheatley in the Cambridge department of Chemistry . I also enjoy playing basketball and touch rugby for my College and Cambridge. I have three years of Oxbridge admissions tutoring experience (admissions tests and interviews) and have previously tutored at 11+ GCSE and A Level over the past six years.

A successful Oxbridge applicant should not only understand what the supervisors are looking for but have an eagerness to learn. My goal is to foster that eagerness and allow students to reach their full potential. There are many tips and tricks I have learned over the years which I share with my students; mostly in terms of how to think and general good interview technique. I am looking forward to getting to know you, learn about your interests, and support you in your journey to Oxbridge!
