Oscar - Oxford
BA Law - University of Oxford
I am a Bar Course student due to begin a criminal & regulatory pupillage in October 2024 with Mountford Chambers, having recently graduated from the University of Oxford.
I am a voracious reader of fiction and I keep relentlessly up to date with developments in the criminal law as well as the state of the criminal justice system. I have spent the last few months travelling across Asia socialising and learning about different cultures and communities, finishing in Nepal to help shoot a documentary on women's community music projects. I hope I can be an effective role model for students who wish to reach their potential whilst maintaining and enjoying the aspects of their lives that make it all worth it - their friends, hobbies, and wellbeing. I have worked incredibly hard before and during Oxford, but have come out the other end robust and optimistic which are invaluable skills in such a competitive world.
The closer knit one-on-one or group discussion method of learning, consolidating, and scrutinising a week's work was such a privilege at University. I got a taste of what that was like at Sixth Form with smaller class sizes and how rewarding it was to have my views and opinions valued and discussed, and knew it was time to share that experience with students of my own.
My offered subjects render me a very versatile tutor. I will passionately defend the significance of the female voice in Othello in one tutorial, but be able to explain and evaluate the government's recent budget from a systematic viewpoint in another.
My tutorials have as their backbone a very extensive set of resources that I have created and collected over several years. My TES author page (https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?&q=11robinso) features several of these which I sell, with combined downloads of over 10,000 from individuals and schools across the whole world. Further, I recently undertook some work for Oxford Scholastica collating hundreds of resources for Oxbridge Law entrance preparation as well as having many of my own tailored lesson plans.
I can provide testimonials of previous tutoring experience and maintain good relationships with many of my students as I am always interested in their continued academic development and success.
My interests outside of studying include pottery and bouldering which the online aspect of part one of the Bar Course has allowed me to get into a lot more wholeheartedly.
