MA - CLASSICAL ACTING
Hello! My name is Keegan and I am a professional Canadian actress who has lived and studied in the UK for the past five years. I have recently graduated with a distinction from an MA in Classical Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Before my postgraduate study, I completed my BA in Drama and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London.
During my time at Royal Holloway, my studies were heavily focused on research and textual analysis in modules such as contemporary British theatre, international and intercultural performance, theatre history, and contemporary performance practices. My essays have ranged from critical analyses of play texts to academic logs and accounts of dramatic exploration using various acting methodologies.
My main specialisation is in classical acting, which I went on to study in detail at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Although this degree was heavily practical, there was a large focus in the critical investigation of classical texts from Shakespeare, Jonson, Ibsen and various other playwrights. In my dissertation, I analysed the standards for accent and voice in Shakespeare throughout history and how these standards correlate to the present political class divide, particularly from the perspective of non-British actors working and living in the UK.
I have three years of experience teaching students (age 4-15) the foundations of stage acting and how to break down a script. My approach to teaching always centres around making the student feel comfortable; building a personal and trustworthy relationship to ensure they are secure enough to ask questions in the areas they need support in. With my experience teaching and working with students, as well as my extensive education in practical and written drama, I have immense confidence in my ability for private tutoring and mentorship in drama and theatre related modules.
