Alex - Oxford
MSc - Chemistry
Hi there! My name is Alex and I am a recent MChem graduate from the University of Oxford, where I achieved a 1st class degree. My master’s research took place in the department of physical and theoretical chemistry, where I investigated the dynamics of saturated absorption occurring within low pressure gas-phase plasmas. Following a year out post-graduation, I am returning to Oxford to study graduate-entry medicine (BM BCh), where I’ll train to become a doctor.
With over 4 years of tutoring experience, both in-person and online, I've primarily specialised in chemistry at GCSE and A-level. Additionally, I have tutored maths and physics at GCSE level, along with pure maths at A-level. I also offer support for medical admissions tests (UCAT, BMAT), having achieved scores in the top decile for both exams. Drawing from my familiarity with the Oxford admissions process, I am able to assist in interview preparation/personal statement work for both chemistry and medicine.
Central to my tutoring philosophy is the concept of personalised learning. Recognising that each student is unique, I tailor my approach to leverage their individual strengths and interests. By fostering a genuine passion for learning, I aim to empower my students to take ownership of their educational journey, thereby maximising the impact of our tutoring sessions. Moreover, I adhere to a holistic approach to education, acknowledging the pivotal role of self-confidence and belief in academic success.
I look forward to the opportunity to support you in reaching your academic goals!
