Gonzalo- Oxford
DPhil in Archaeology & Anthropology - University of Oxford | Postdoctoral Research Fellow - University of Cambridge
My name is Gonzalo and I am an Oxbridge Admissions Specialist. I have completed all my degrees at the University of Oxford – a First-Class BA in Archaeology & Anthropology (top of my cohort), an MSc with Distinction, and a fully funded DPhil – before moving as a postdoctoral Research Fellow to the University of Cambridge. Over the past six years, I have conducted nearly 100 undergraduate admissions interviews for both Oxford and Cambridge and been directly involved in the decision-making process.
In my research, spanning from early human evolution to the socio-political organisation and economic systems of states and empires across time and space, I have always sought to explore the bigger questions of what it means to be human and how we adapt to changing conditions– and I bring that same passion and insights to my mentoring. My expertise spans a range of subjects, including Archaeology & Anthropology, Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS), Geography, History, PPE and other related social sciences and humanities degrees. I have also tutored or supervised over 30 undergraduates, helping them sharpen their analytical thinking, develop their own independent voice, and adapt to the Oxbridge style of learning.
While I have a deep knowledge of how the process works, what students need, and what are examiners looking for, my approach is about much more than exam results or interview performance. I focus on nurturing excellence, empowering students to develop their unique potential and find their purpose, by linking what we are learning to real-world issues. I meet each student where they are, help them strengthen their weaknesses, and challenge them to grow with dynamic, thought-provoking questions that spark their curiosity and inspire creativity, critical reasoning, and big-picture thinking.
Parents value my responsiveness, care, and strategic insight. Students appreciate my bespoke preparation, active listening, and honest, constructive feedback that allow them to grow in confidence and capability. My goal is not just to help students gain a place at University, but to ensure they are ready to thrive once they get there.
