I am a bachelor's student that is passionate about biomedical sciences and I want to use this drive to help students reach their fullest potential in the subjects they are studying. I have been tutoring for about a year now, I've enjoyed seeing the different ways in which students approach problems and adapting my teaching to each one.
My patience, adaptability and organisation allow me to successfully give engaging lessons while also managing my workload during term time. I try to start out lessons by outlining key concepts and working through some examples. After that I always leave some time for the students to attempt questions independently and to work on exam technique allowing them to maximise the amount of marks they get on each question.
I believe that I am empathetic and a good communicator so I will be able to create a comfortable environment for students where they can ask me questions and we can work through topics they struggle with.
My first tutoring experience was volunteering to offer English conversation lessons to students from less fortunate backgrounds and shortly after I started doing some group Italian lessons as part of a language club at my school. Both experiences were really enjoyable for me as seeing results was very rewarding. For example, seeing some year 3 students count to 20 in Italian after just a few lessons was impressive and their enthusiasm was contagious.
These first experiences then urged me to start tutoring within subject field, specifically maths and further maths at GCSE level. I helped one of my students catch up over the summer as she had missed 3 months of school. She made quick progress and by the end of it she felt prepared to go into the next school year without any gaps in her knowledge.
