Luka - Oxford

BA Philosophy & Theology - University of Oxford

Hi there!

My name is Luka and I am currently completing my MA in Philosophy at King's College London. Being very keen on the Humanities subjects especially, I am an avid reader, but in my spare time I mostly like to travel, make music and practice mixed martial arts!

My teaching experience includes:

  • English Literature, Philosophy / Theology, Logic, Debating, Oxbridge entrance tutoring: September 2021-present - In this role I have been running weekly online English Literature tutorials for GCSE level and primary school levels. I have taught more general skills on improving writing as well as providing specific pointers on how to best grapple with the texts on the syllabus (e.g., 1984, Journey's End, etc.). I also tutor Logic (propositional and predicate Logic), as well as Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies. In addition to this, I have also taught multiple students how to prepare for interviews more widely as well as Oxbridge interviews specifically, and I have experience both in person and online with assisting students in improving the entirety of their application process (personal statements, extra-curricular research, interview technique, etc.). I have had overwhelmingly positive feedback, indicating that my input genuinely makes a notable difference to the student's academic abilities. This experience has enhanced my skills of weekly lesson preparation and effective teaching as well as closely monitoring academic progress of the student to tailor content that is optimal for their individual learning journey.

  • Accelerated Learning Champion at The Swan School, Oxford: August 2021-July 2022. This full-time position involved providing academic and pastoral support for higher needs students across the curriculum and school. This has greatly developed my communication/explanation skills, time-management skills, patience, and general understanding of accommodating more complex needs in educational environments. This has also significantly developed my teamworking capabilities since this job required working closely with staff, parents, and external specialists to respond to unexpected and novel challenges on a daily basis.

  • Infinitum Education Summer School: July 2022 + July 2023. Alongside a small team of other Oxford students and graduates, we ran a week of seminars and preparations geared towards Oxbridge admissions for prospective students. I conducted mock interviews, critiqued and improved personal statements, recommended further literature, and ran seminars on both public speaking and time management.

I look forward to tutoring you in your subject area and hope it will be both an enjoyable and informative experience!
