George - Oxford

MSc - Biochemistry

Hi, I'm George! I graduated from University of Oxford with a First Class degree in an integrated Masters in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry in July 2021. I am currently doing a DPhil in Clinical Medicine at University of Oxford. My research focuses on trying to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing the early stages of colorectal cancer. During my integrated masters I focused on acute hypoxia physiology under the supervision of the Nobel Prize winner Professor Sir Peter Ratcliffe. I have always been passionate about molecular and cellular Biology from my first encounter with these topics in secondary school. In order to deepen my knowledge and test my limits I have represented my country twice in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). This was a great opportunity as a high-school student to meet a lot of other students I shared similar passions with and understand research at a global scale. In my free time I enjoy travelling and fencing. I am currently the captain of the men seconds team for the University of Oxford.

I have been preparing students for University admission, exam entry, interviews and medical school since 2016. I am deeply familiar with the education system in multiple countries such as China, the USA and across Europe. I was trained as an education consultant in Shanghai during my first summer internship in July-August 2018. Ever since, I have helped around 90 students in achieving their goals in terms of university admission, exams (IB, A levels, GCSE and iGCSE) and competition preparation (Brain Bee, BBO, IBO). My teaching approach involves an efficient combination of practical and theoretical aspects of the topic I am teaching.
