PhD Physics - University of Oxford
I am currently studying for a PhD in Physics at Imperial College London studying the interaction of clouds in the climate system. I have a particular interest in using satellite data to understand the causal relationships underpinning processes in the cloud-climate system. My research uses novel statistical and observational methods in order to make more confident climate projections.
Prior to this I achieved a first class integrated masters degree in Physics at Jesus College Oxford. During my time at Oxford I received an academic scholarship as a result of receiving the highest exam results for Physics at my College. Whilst at Oxford I chose to take the optional 'teaching physics in schools' module. This course explored how physics principles can be effectively communicated with a particular focus on misconceptions in physics held by secondary school pupils. The final piece of work for this course was an essay for which I received an academic prize.
I have a strong academic record having achieved four A* s in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry at A level. . Whilst at Imperial I have continued to build on my previous teaching experience, delivering one-to-one support to undergraduate students. I hope to pass on my passion for maths and physics to my students by building a nurturing and inspiring teaching environment.
I have over 100 hours tutoring experience in Maths and Physics. I have tutored a wide range of ages and abilities both in person and online. I also have experience tutoring for university admissions and have helped students with PAT and provided general admissions advice. I also have experience with helping students to prepare for physics and engineering interviews at Oxford and Cambridge.
