BA Philosophy and Modern Languages (French) - University of Oxford
Hello! I'm Clara, and I started reading for a degree in Philosophy and Modern Languages (French) at Lincoln College, University of Oxford in 2019. Through my own experience, I learnt first-hand what the most important aspects of a successful application are. As a mentor, I aim to support students in every step of their application; the personal statement, the admissions tests and the interview. The tutorial style unique to Oxbridge requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to understand and process information quickly. As a mentor, I therefore encourage both in-depth academic exploration as well as rigorous discussions about the topic at hand. My teaching approach is tailored to each mentee individually, focusing on your particular skills and interests so we can guarantee these shine through in your application.
I also have experience tutoring students in foreign languages, particularly French. When teaching languages, I aim to instill both a grammatic and lexical proficiency in my students. These are the key building blocks to guarantee success in the MLAT admissions test for Oxford. Equally, I offer help with applications for Philosophy. A successful Philosophy student demonstrates the ability to break down complex ideas and present arguments in clear and precise language. Therefore, when mentoring students in this subject I aim to help them get both a firm grasp of general themes and acquire key argumentative skills.
