Abhishek - Oxford

BA in Medicine - University of oxford

I am a second-year medical student at the University of Oxford (Christ Church) and achieved a Distinction in the First Bachelor of Medicine Part II exams, ranking top 10 in the cohort. I have an interest in therapeutic research, especially in neuropharmacology and will be undertaking a research project in the new year.

Alongside my academic pursuits, I have spent hundreds of hours tutoring GCSE and A Level student in mathematics and science-based subjects over the past three years. This initially stemmed from volunteering to tutor younger students at my sixth form, and this was a valuable experience. I particularly enjoyed forming professional friendships with my students and seeing them steadily progress over the months. Ever since, I am deeply passionate about teaching.

I value the importance of challenging students to further their learning, but unfortunately, this isn’t often facilitated in schools. I test my students to the highest of their abilities and encourage open communication and questions throughout my lessons. This aims to develop their critical thinking, alongside their passion for the subject.

I have also aided students with their applications to read Medicine at university, with success at top Russell Group universities including Oxford, UCL, and Kings. Often, I took students right from their personal statement up to the interview stage, and it was a pleasure seeing them thrive. Having gone through the experience myself, I can effectively provide guidance on successful revision for entrance exams and interviews: some of which I wish I had when I applied.
