Fast Stream Civil Servant
My name is Nandita and I’m currently a UK Civil Servant, completing my first posting in the Generalist Fast Stream programme. Having always maintained a keen interest in politics and current affairs, with a desire to serve the public, I felt that a career in Government would be a great fit for me. Currently, I lead on key projects that support the improvement of the Probation service and am genuinely delighted by the level of ownership I have over my work, as well as the responsibility that I have been given. I believe this is the real selling point of the Fast Stream - you will genuinely be leading on impactful pieces of work from just a few months in.
Prior to joining the Fast Stream, I worked at the Bank of England for six months during a year out of university, where I interned with the Internal Audit and Monetary Policy divisions. I was subsequently hired to manage the corporate recruitment to a new research panel the Bank had set up in response to the EU referendum, which I did for three months, before returning back to Oxford to finish my degree. Although I did not join the Bank as a Graduate, I received a graduate offer for their Generalist track, and would also be very happy to advise anyone on their application.
