PhD in Biophysics - University of Oxford
I am Rasched, a final-year PhD Student at the University of Oxford in Biophysics. I obtained my BSc and MSc also from Oxford in Physics, with an emphasis on mostly theoretical modules. These included modules such as condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, general relativity and classical physics. My background in Physics has been supplemented with various mathematics modules such as calculus and linear algebra. Throughout my studies, I also focused on computational applications and have experience writing code for simulating neutrino motion, fluid flow and black hole binary systems (which was the focus of my Master’s thesis). Currently, my work applies machine learning to understand protein diffusion. I achieved a First-Class for my undergraduate and 4 A* s at A-Level in Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Further Maths.
For the past few years, I have mainly been tutoring students aged between 11 to 21 (both from the UK and international) who need help with Maths and Physics. I have worked with several students on a weekly basis in this timeframe, helping them achieve top results in their school examinations. Throughout this time, I have also helped with university applications, teaching students how to ace the PAT (Physics Aptitude Test for Oxford) or NSAA (Natural Sciences Admission Assessment for Cambridge) alongside reviewing personal statements and providing interview prep. In the past, I have overseen 1st year Physics undergraduates at Oxford in the computational labs and have marked problem sheets for the 4th year module in Biophysics. Lastly, I have ran tutorials/supervisions for 1st year Oxford Biochemistry students for their mathematics and statistics courses. My approach to teaching involves a lot of questions and problems such that the student understands both the concepts and how to apply them.
