Hello! I graduated from Cambridge in 2022, with a BA in Natural Sciences and MSci in Astrophysics. In my final year, I took a wide range of courses, including Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics, Formation of Galaxies and Exoplanets. My research project focussed on the detection of exozodiacal dust around nearby M-stars, which has implications for future exoplanet detection. I have worked as a tutor for 10 years now, amassing over 800 hours of tuition, with the majority of my work in recent years centred around A-Level and Oxbridge Admissions support. Of the students that I have tutored for Oxbridge Admissions, 75% have gained an offer, and the vast majority of my students have met or exceeded their target grades in exams.
As a tutor, my first aim is to create a relaxed and fun space in which to learn! Fostering a strong working relationship with my students has always been a priority of mine; I strive to be an approachable, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. My teaching philosophy is to develop in my students a deep understanding of the very fundamentals of their subject, which equips them with a systematic approach to problem-solving. I believe that Mathematics and the Physical Sciences must be practised; only a certain amount of skill can be acquired through learning and understanding. My lessons are therefore split between cultivating rigorous understanding and working through lots of practise questions! While these are key tenets of my teaching style, I don’t believe that one single approach can fit all students. My extensive teaching experience has supplied me with the ability to deliver explanations of concepts that are specific to the learning style of the student with whom I’m working. Ultimately, I seek to make my students more confident, curious, driven and self-sufficient.
Outside of my scientific interests, I am a professional actor, having graduated the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in December 2023 (MA Classical Acting).
