BA Natural Sciences - University of Cambridge
Hello! I’m currently a Master’s student of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, after having completed my BA in Natural Sciences in 2023 with a 2:1. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I took modules including Pharmacology, Physiology of Organisms, Structural and Chemical Biology and Mathematical Biology. I particularly enjoyed working on my final-year dissertation summarising my wet lab project, where I used Cryo-Electron Microscopy to determine the structure of a novel, flexible protein that had been previously difficult to characterise, which resulted in a published paper. I am passionate about all things in the field of science, and hence I would love to impart some of my own knowledge and develop similar interests in students wishing to follow that path.
At A-Level, I achieved A, A, A*, A in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Further Mathematics respectively, along with an A in AS English. I am hence knowledgeable in these subject areas, and have Extended Essay experience both from AS English and from a HPQ project which I completed whilst at school on the theme of “Music and the Brain”. Outside of my studies, I enjoy dance, and I have been a member of the Cambridge University Dance Competition Team for the last 3 years. Additionally, I was a member of the May Ball Committee in 2022, organising the 3000-guest 9-hour ball to celebrate the end of exams.
I have over 100 hours of experience tutoring Maths, Biology and Chemistry across both GCSE and A Level, and additionally have provided both multi-subject tutoring to Key Stage 3 students and have assisted in preparation for British university applications. My approach is one of encouraging independent thought, wherein I guide students to be able to reach conclusions on their own as I believe that this establishes a firm knowledge base which is retained and can be built upon, which is especially important when learning new content. I prefer to explain using real-world examples that can directly relate to a student’s life, as I believe this is a sure-fire way to build confidence and understand the reasoning behind common problems. I also think that teaching should be fun and exploratory, and that both tutor and student can learn significantly from the experience.
