Hi! I am currently a 3rd Year student reading Philosophy and Linguistics at Somerville College, Oxford. I offer a variety of tutoring services for students who would like assistance with the Oxbridge admissions process. In particular, I am able to provide help relating to EPQ projects (centred around Philosophy and/or Linguistics), TSA practice and Philosophy and Linguistics interview preparation.
I have over a year's worth of tutoring experience, having begun my journey on the tutoring platform MyTutor before becoming involved with Oxbridge admissions tutoring. Over this period of time, I have developed a personal approach to teaching that places the focus of the lesson on the student. Prior to our lessons, I will often ask students to carry out a piece of reading or write up an essay. During the lesson, rather than simply regurgitating material for memorization, I will encourage students to provide their opinion on a given reading or to walk me through their essay. This creates space for the student not only to expand on their ideas but also, perhaps upon prompting from myself, to recognize alternative perspectives or even identify errors in their thought processes. In this way, I model my lessons around the Oxbridge tutorial style. Such a model has the added benefit of providing valuable practice for Oxbridge interviews, which take on a very similar format.
I believe this style of teaching can be of great help to students looking to take on the Oxbridge admissions process and I look forward to assisting more students in achieving their academic goals.
