Maya - Cambridge
BA in Architecture - University of Cambridge
My name is Maya and I am a recent Architecture graduate from the University of Cambridge, and boast a wide range of tutoring experience. I enjoy coaching students through the admissions process and developing their passion for Architecture. I am skilled in hand drawing, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, AutoCAD and Rhino, offering tutoring in Architecture admissions portfolios and assessments, as well as guidance with the aforementioned software. I have enjoyed tutoring both internationally and online, and am well-versed in the University admissions process.
I believe that the application process for Oxbridge is a holistic one and encourage students to explore their interests in different types of architecture, through drawing, modelling and architectural history. I work by introducing students to interview techniques which will aid the presentation of their portfolio, and help students display a rich, varied body of work tailored to their university choice. I encourage students to draw from their own experience of architecture in their daily lives, creating a personal response to the built environment. I tailor sessions to students' unique skillsets and interests, while also focusing on visual narrative - key to a strong Architecture application.
I have enjoyed teaching students from a variety of educational backgrounds in the UK, as well as in China and Nepal to whom English is their second or third language. In addition to this, in my role as a Slipstream Education mentor, I coached prospective students for online Cambridge interviews, successfully building students’ confidence along the way.
