Jacob - Cambridge

MSc - Natural Sciences

I am a PhD student at Imperial College London, researching how DNA folding patterns affect gene expression in cells. I previously studied Natural Sciences (Physical) at Cambridge University, achieving First Class honours in my Masters degree. I was also awarded a prize for writing the top Masters project in Theoretical Physics in my yeargroup. At school I achieved A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-Level.

My main goal as a mentor is to build students' confidence and capabilities through a flexible teaching style. I adapt my sessions to fit the unique goals and personality of each student but I always make sure to push students beyond the limit of their academic comfort zone. I'm passionate about my subjects and this tends to come across in the enthusiasm of my teaching - I want my students to not only perform well at exams and interview but also to love their subject!

In the past I have tutored students at all levels from GCSEs to University applications - I have a track record of helping my students succeed in exams and reach their chosen Universities. I have also worked as a teaching assistant in several undergraduate courses at Imperial College.

I have significant experience working as a private tutor for secondary school students and am currently teaching Maths, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE and A-Level standards. I have also assisted in teaching Probability, Statistics, Linear Algebra and Thermal Physics to undergraduates at Imperial College London.
I am also mentoring students applying to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge, assisting them with preparation for admissions tests and interviews.
