Humphrey - Cambridge

MPhil in Philosophy | BA in Philosophy - University of Cambridge

Hi! I’m Humphrey. I'm a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge with a first class BA in Philosophy; and currently am studying for an MPhil in Philosophy at Cambridge. I specialise in tutoring for the TSA and applications for philosophy. When sitting the TSA, I scored full marks on all critical thinking questions. As a mentor, I provide my students with continuing, step by step support; from pre-personal statement through to post-Oxbridge interview. My teaching methods focus on developing the abilities of my students to think for themselves, and I encourage clarity, rigour, and imagination. I have 100+ hours of teaching experience.

Outside the field of University applications I also offer general tutoring for philosophy, including topics such as Wittgenstein, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, and Ancient Greek philosophy. My lessons are modelled on the Oxbridge style tutorial, of which I have extensive experience. Students can expect an emphasis on critical discussion, and to be encouraged to develop, defend and explore multiple positions within debates.

In my spare time I play the Cello in university orchestras, and play the piano. I recently led a successful mountaineering expedition to the High Atlas, and enjoy poetry.

If you have any questions about my experience, please feel free to contact me at support@doxa.co.uk
