Hi, I'm Declan! I'm an Engineering Science graduate from the University of Oxford and I am passionate about helping students crack their university applications.
I have worked as an Oxbridge admissions tutor since I started at the University 5 years ago. During that time, alongside offering private tuition, I have also organised and ran courses for the University of Oxford to help potential students with their applications as well as setting up a similar Oxbridge application program at my old school.
I specialise in Oxbridge admissions for Engineering, Maths and Physics, working with students right the way from their personal statements up until interviews. My teaching style has a strong emphasis on personalised learning centred around the student and my sessions are all based around the 1-1 tutorial system employed at Oxbridge.
One area I like to focus on in our sessions is how applicants structure their answers during an interview and communicate their thoughts to the interviewers. Making sure an interviewer can follow your working as you approach a new problem is absolutely key to a successful interview so I ensure all candidates are fully equipped to do this.
In addition to this I make sure to dispel any misconceptions students have about the interviews themselves, to ensure they enter the room with the strongest foundation possible and the best strategies to not only answer the questions but more importantly win over their interviewers. Whilst university interviews are inevitably a nerve wracking time, the more enthusiasm a candidate can show and the better they can engage with their interviewer, the higher their chances of success.
