Aaron - Oxford
BA in Modern Foreign Languages - University of Oxford
I began reading for a degree in Modern Languages (French & Spanish) at Christ Church, University of Oxford in 2020. During my time at Oxford, I have seen first-hand what pleases tutors in both interviews and personal statements.
As your mentor, I won't just train you to answer exam questions, but will also encourage deep academic exploration to allow you to become a sophisticated, independent thinker. In my teaching, I will always aim to encourage lively discussion modelled on the teaching methods of Oxford tutorials and Cambridge supervisions.
My approach to studying literature is holistic, and aims to appreciate an array of influences on the individual who produced it. I will encourage you to consider the 'big ideas' and of writing and give you the space to apply your own thinking and initiative. While our preparation for the entrance examinations will focus on language and grammar, our conversations in preparation for interview will nurture your academic interests and sharpen your critical approach.
My written and spoken language is of a very high level. I studied at the University of Córdoba as part of an Erasmus exchange in 2022/23 and then worked as a hotel receptionist in southern France in spring/summer 2023. Both experiences allowed me to hone my language skills.
When not reading about 19th Century France or Medieval Spain, I enjoy going to classical music concerts, the theatre and planning my next travel adventure.
