We pair students with our expert Mentors, providing help and guidance through each step of the university application process. There are 4 key areas that our Mentors provide help in, and students can jump in at any point in the process, depending upon their needs. These areas are:
Subject exploration: Mentors help student explore the subject they are applying for at a university level. This helps them develop subject skills and guide them through relevant supra-curricular activities (such as essay competitions) and guide them through new ideas, all of which can help them develop their strengths and know what they want to write about in their personal statement.
Personal statement support: Mentors help students develop a strong personal statement, allowing students to structure their ideas clearly
Admissions test support: Mentors help students navigate admissions tests, figuring out the best approach and helping them practise past papers.
Interview support: Mentors will hold mock interviews, and provide feedback on these to students.

Applying to top schools and universities can be a difficult and complex process, but the rewards of doing so can be substantial. In fact, students who Mentor with us are 3x more likely to gain an offer to Oxford or Cambridge than those who receive no mentorship at all!
-
Yes! Our brilliant Mentors are also subject tutors, and we can provide tuition to students from ages 11-18, for general subject help and for school exams (including GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, and IB)
-
We use a service called TutorCruncher to email you invoices at the end of each calendar month. We then request a direct bank transfer from you once you have received this.
-
Yes, in fact we often encourage it depending on the student, to ensure they can explore a subject broadly and receive feedback from different people. Having said this, we do recommend this for longer-term students, as we also recognise the importance of students developing good working relationships with their Mentors.
-
We pride ourselves on personalising our service to our client’s needs, and as a boutique agency we work very closely with our students to ensure they are getting the best attention possible, not just in their sessions with Mentors but outside of these too. We are always happy to talk parents and students through the process, and be a real helping hand every step of the way. We’ve many years of experience working in this field, and find this approach works well.
In addition to this, we hire the best Mentors out there, and we’re very transparent about who we hire, allowing you, our clients, to see exactly who you’ll be working with. This is something pretty unique to Doxa! Each of our Mentors go through a strict vetting process, and once fully briefed their profiles are uploaded to our site. (You can view our Mentors here). This means you can see exactly who you’ll be working with.
-
Yes, depending on availability of each Mentor, we are very happy for you to suggest a Mentor you’d like to work with. We may also recommend certain tutors depending on individual student’s requirements and personality, based off of who we think will be the best fit for you. We are happy to organise a 20 minute meeting between students and Mentors to assess this.
-
Oxford, Cambridge, and other top UK universities are incredibly competitive and any website which guarantees entry is misleading you; what we can say at Doxa, however, is that we will give you the best possible chance of getting in.
-
We recommend starting early to ensure that students have fully developed their critical thinking skillset and have been able to have guided exploration of their subject in depth, to allow them to perform well at all stages of the application process. Many top private and grammar UK schools begin giving their students classes on university applications from GCSE level, so we recommend starting now to put your best foot forward.
