Thomas - Cambridge
BA in Natural Sciences - University of Cambridge
I love to communicate science to both specialists and lay-people. After winning a third-place award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, I was invited to present in the International Science Symposium, the ASEAN Dengue Day and Science Carnival. Hence, I have experience conveying information to groups.
As a tutor for high school STEM subjects which hosted hundreds of students, I learned to address some complex scientific concepts in a simpler manner. I am fluent in Chinese and English. Being a counsellor during my high school made me a good listener. Also, I believe it is essential for everyone to be a leader in a team. My past experience as the president of my high school art society strengthened my power of influence and confidence when I used to work with School BOD to complete the plan of building a new art gallery, planned 3-schools combined Art Camp, organised mural painting as a gift for the school’s centenary celebration, arranged 2-days Rubber Clay Workshop and centenary art exhibition. I participated in various competitions by teaming up with my classmates and by delegating tasks among ourselves we’ve won numerous national competitions.
