BA in Natural Sciences - University of Cambridge

marida.jpg

I am a First Class Natural Sciences (Biological) graduate from King’s College, Cambridge, currently studying for an MSc Bioinformatics at the University of Copenhagen. I achieved all A*s at GCSE and A level, scoring top marks in my year group of 400 for Chemistry and Biology, and over 90% in all my Maths and Further Maths modules.

I hope to transmit my genuine passion and excitement for these subjects to my tutees, and balance exploring their favourite topics with thorough test and interview preparation. My personal academic interests include making use of the multitude of new biological sequence data and in particular the emerging field of Palaeogenetics (the study of ancient DNA). For example, I wrote my thesis on our genetic relationship with Neanderthals.

I have extensively tutored Maths and Science at GCSE (and iGSCE) level. While my teaching can be intimate to the syllabus in order to prepare efficiently for exams, I also like to give students the opportunity to explore further reading. This often helps to draw links between topics and prepare students for what they may encounter at A level.

I have an international (Italian and Danish) background and outside of my studies I love to cook and run long distance. I also paint portraits on commission.
