Hi, I’m Joe! I've just finished four years of studying for a Bachelor's and Master's in Astrophysics at the University of Cambridge. During this time, I ranked in the top 15% of my cohort at undergraduate level, and additionally averaged 80 in my Master's year to achieve a first class with distinction. Preceding University, I achieved straight A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level.
Beyond academia, I have been tutoring Maths from University to GCSE level for two years, finding 5 hours a week alongside my degree to help others in their mathematical pursuit. During these student-led sessions, I make it a priority to establish a friendly classroom environment, which I believe is instrumental in ensuring students effectively engage with difficult mathematical concepts. With my help, I believe I can help students not only become better mathematicians, but also more effective and motivated learners. In the June 2021 season, all 4 of my students taking GCSE and A-levels achieved at least two full letter grades higher than when they began their tutoring sessions with me.
Over the summer, I have delivered online workshops on behalf of Lucy Cavendish College to help students with their application for Physical Natural Sciences at Cambridge and have additionally provided support for students taking the infamous STEP paper. During these sessions, I probe students’ understanding of difficult concept from numerous avenues to ensure their mathematical foundations are rigid enough for even the top Universities.
