Amartya - Cambridge
BA in Economics - University of Cambridge
Hi, I'm Amartya, a 3rd year Economics student at St John's College, Cambridge. I specialised in development economics and econometrics throughout my degree and thoroughly enjoyed working on essays and dissertations. Previously, I achieved 4A*s at A-levels in Maths, Physics, Economics and an EPQ. Outside academia, I've worked with teams of economists, investors and business executives at Fidelity, BCG, HSBC and am a keen sports and chess enthusiast.
Mentoring has been a constant throughout this 5-year journey. I have mentored students along every step of the Oxbridge process and have a strong bank of resources to target Economics A-Level, personal statements, admission exams, interviews and career development. In the last 3 years, 6/8 of my students have received Oxbridge offers and seen an average 1.4 rise in grades. My work style ensures 3 things during sessions: strengthening the student's weaknesses, engagement through asking them direct questions (similar to a Cambridge supervision) and key takeaways for the students to focus on outside the session. I dedicate a significant time to plan the tutorial and am greatly invested in their ensuring they are on track to achieve their goals. I look forward to working with motivated students and engaging in personalised, supervision-style mentoring sessions with them.
